The AUNY Division of the School of Graduate & Continuing Studies at Alfred University is delighted to announce a search for a School Counseling Field Placement Coordinator for our New York City metro area-based school counseling programs (MSEd / CAS). The AUNY counseling programs offer courses on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday) with a focus on training adult learners. This is primarily a remote position with some in-person work responsibilities.
Rate: $26.93-$28.48, 20 hours/week
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The AUNY School Counseling Field Placement Coordinator is a 12-month, part-time (20 hrs. / week) position that will assist the Dean’s Office in the oversight of the field experiences of the AUNY school counseling graduate program in the NYC metro area. This position focuses on the required practicum and internship experiences for master's degree and advanced certificate students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The AUNY School Counseling Field Placement Coordinator is a 12-month, part-time (20 hrs. / week) position that will assist the Dean’s Office in the oversight of the field experiences of the AUNY school counseling graduate program in the NYC metro area. This position focuses on the required practicum and internship experiences for master's degree and advanced certificate students.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing school counseling field experiences and ensuring compliance with certification regulations. Review and approval of all school counseling field placement agreements.
- Supervision of practicum and internship seminar instructors.
- Assigning students to practicum and internship seminars.
- Conducting orientation programming for field experiences and exit programming for graduates.
- Assisting students in identifying appropriate practicum and internship placements.
- Tracking practicum and internship hours via coordination with the internship seminar instructors and reporting progress to the Dean’s Office.
- Making regular phone and email contacts with field supervisors.
- Developing new school counseling practicum and internship sites that will meet program training needs.
- Conducting visits (virtual &/or in-person) of school counseling internship sites to determine compliance with State Education regulations.
- Overseeing the school counseling field experience seminar during the summer semester (July/August). Assisting the Dean’s Office with the administration of child abuse, DASA, and SAVE trainings.
- Certifying completion of field experiences as part of the degree conferral process.
- Attending all AUNY counseling program faculty meetings (virtual & in-person).
- Assisting with the AUNY Commencement Ceremony.
- This position is primarily a remote position, however occasional travel to program extension sites in the NYC metropolitan area (Brooklyn, Oceanside, & Westchester) and field placement sites is required.
- A master's degree in counseling, or equivalent, and current certification as a school counselor.
- Five or more years of experience as a certified school counselor.
- Excellent trouble shooting and conflict resolutions skills, as well as the capacity to work independently and be self-directed are essential to this position.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and capable of learning and managing specialty software used for field experience documentation and NYS certification agencies.
- Must be comfortable with extensive online interactions with students, faculty, administrative offices, and other stakeholders.
- Must be comfortable with travel throughout the five boroughs, Long Island, Westchester, and the lower Hudson Valley when necessary.
- Primary work responsibilities will be during the week (Monday-Friday) to interface with site supervisors and university personnel Because students attend class on Saturdays and Sundays, periodic weekend obligations are required ccasional evenings for meetings and orientations.
