Alfred University's College of Liberal Arts & Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2025. The Division of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a minor, double major, and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science. Due to rapid growth in the program, we are seeking candidates for a new faculty position.  Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to quality, excellence in undergraduate teaching, maintaining an active research program, and engaging with the life of the College and University.

Salary: $65,000-70,000

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Software Engineering by the time of the appointment. Areas of research complementary to our faculty are preferred. Scholarship is broadly defined. Therefore, faculty have opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and colleges as a part of their research programs. Math and Computer Science faculty currently collaborate with faculty in Liberal Arts, Engineering, Art and Design, and Performing Arts. There is annual support for travel to conferences, and the university hosts research forums, seminars, and informal intellectual gatherings. Students meet weekly in the CASTLE Lab to discuss and present new topics of interest and exploration. Additionally, yearly coding competitions take place in CASTLE Lab and are supported by the Alfred AXIOM Club.

Application materials should include a cover letter that includes a rationale for the desire to teach in a rural liberal arts setting, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching interests and experience, a research statement, and three confidential letters of reference. Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
